Today you can get plenty of cheap flights, Gerona in Spain. This particular airport lies halfway between Barcelona in Spain and Perpignan in France. So if you are looking to spend some time skiing this winter this is the ideal airport to fly into, as you will be able to Eastern Pyrenees ski slopes from here.
From the UK, you can get flights to Gerona from just about anywhere and you can expect to pay between £36 and £74 for a return flight. Both London Luton and London Stansted have direct flights to this airport as do Bournemouth, Doncaster, East Midlands (Birmingham) and Liverpool.
The airport itself is actually 7 miles from Gerona and 50 miles from Barcelona so it is advisable that you rent a car during your stay. You can if you wish get a bus that will take you directly to Gerona or Barcelona. But certainly car hire is the far better option and depending on the time of year when you visit the region, you will find that they are reasonably priced. In fact, you could expect to pay around £98 for a weeks (7 days) car rental when holidaying in this part of Spain.
There are taxis available from the airport, which can take you to Gerona and these cost around £15 for those that take you into the town itself. But anything further a field and you may well find that the taxi cost almost as much as it would have cost you to rent a car.
